IDOT suspending non-emergency road work during Memorial Day weekend

Posted:
SPRINGFIELD - Illinois Department of Transportation officials have announced that non-emergency road work will be suspended, where possible, during the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Officials say the road work will be suspended from 3:00 p.m. on May 22 until 12:00 a.m. on May 26.  Some construction areas will see an increase in open lanes, in order to help improve traffic flow.  Motorists are being asked to use caution, to slow down, and to eliminate distractions while driving through all work zones.  Officials are also reminding motorists that work zone speed limits will still be in effect in any areas they are posted.
