Decatur Park District hosting camps for youth with special needs

DECATUR - The Decatur Park District is inviting youth with special needs to enjoy a summer of fun during Camp I Can and Camp F.I.R.E. in June and July.

Officials say weekly camp sessions will be offered at South Shores School from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, on June 8 through June 12, June 15 through June 19, June 22 through June 26, and June 29 through July 3.  The fee to attend the camp is $64, or $59 with a resident discount.

Camp I Can is for ages six through 14, and will give participants the opportunity to share, learn, and enjoy recreational activities at Nelson Park, Fairview Pool, Scovill Zoo, and more.  Camp F.I.R.E. is for youth ages 15 through 21, and will allow participants the chance to learn Special Olympics sports, take field trips, learn how to become more independent, and more.
