Two-vehicle crash in Douglas County results in temporary lane closures

DOUGLAS COUNTY - Illinois State Police say the eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. Route 36 were temporarily blocked after a two-vehicle crash Friday morning.

According to the preliminary investigation, authorities say the crash happened at about 6:59 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. Route 36 and County Road 610 East.  Police say a 2004 Dodge Stratus was traveling westbound when it left its lane, crossed into the eastbound lane of traffic, and struck a truck-tractor semi-trailer.  The collision resulted in the temporary closure of both lanes of traffic while debris was being cleared.

Authorities say seat belts were used by both vehicles, and that no injuries were reported.  The Illinois State Police continue to investigate this crash.  We will provide more details as they become available.
