Decatur police make arrest in Monday morning shooting incident

DECATUR - The Decatur Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a shooting at a Decatur bar that left four people injured and one person dead.

Decatur police say Jevon Barber, 18, was arrested by members of the Joliet Police Department at U.S. Marshals Service Monday night.  Authorities say officers responded to reports of shots fired at Club Maxey at about 12:18 a.m.  Upon arriving, officers say they found five people who had suffered what appeared to be gunshot wounds.  One person, identified as Mishari Halbrook, died of his injuries at a local hospital.

Decatur police say the shooting happened during a concert at the bar, and that many people were present at the time of the incident.  The Decatur Police Department is continuing to investigate this shooting.  Barber is being held in the Macon County Jail on $1 million bond.

We will provide more details as they become available.
