Springfield woman sentenced to nearly 4 years in prison

SPRINGFIELD - A Springfield woman who pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $400,000 from her former employer has been sentenced to nearly four years in prison.

According to U.S. Attorney James Lewis, Alice Foss, 53, was sentenced to 46 months in prison Tuesday morning.  Lewis says Foss was also ordered to pay $464,925 in restitution to Don Moss and Associates.  Foss pleaded guilty to five counts of mail fraud, seven counts of wire fraud, and one count of access device fraud during a jury trial in January 2015.

Authorities say Foss admitted to taking more than $400,000 from Don Moss and Associates from May 1997 until October 2009, while she worked at the firm's chief financial officer.  Authorities also say Foss admitted to writing multiple fraudulent bonus checks to herself during this time, as well as using the firm's bank account to pay for personal expenses.
