Champaign police make arrest in Tuesday shooting

CHAMPAIGN - The Champaign Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a shooting incident that happened Tuesday evening.

According to Champaign police, officers were dispatched to Carle Hospital at about 5:00 p.m. on May 26 in regards to a 38-year-old female who was injured in a shooting incident that occurred at an undetermined location earlier that day.  Police say the woman is still hospitalized in serious condition.

Officers say they have continued their investigation, leading to the arrest of Shantell Brown, 39, in connection with the shooting incident.  Brown faces a preliminary charge of reckless discharge of a firearm.
