Shelbyville Hallmark Store To Close This Fall

Shelbyville – It's typical of a small business on Main Street USA.  In this case it's located on Main Street in Shelbyville.

Pinched by declining sales Turners' Hallmark Shoppe will close its doors sometime around October of this year.

“We're just not making it anymore,” store owner Juanita Turner told WAND's Doug Wolfe.

Turners' Hallmark Shoppe has been losing business as the result of changing customer habits.  On-line shopping has taken a toll on its collectibles business.  Big box stores and Walmart have eaten into their greeting card business.

Items in the store are already marked down 25% to 70%.  The discounts could become deeper as early as next week.

The store will close for a few weeks at the end of June.  It will reopen again until late October as the inventory is sold off.
