IDOT announced Champaign County bridge repair projects

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY - Illinois Department of Transportation officials have announced a pair of bridge repair projects that are scheduled to begin on June 1.

The first project will focus on making repairs to the structure carrying Kirby Avenue over Interstate 57.  Officials say single lane closures will be in place during this project, along with occasional nighttime full closures on northbound Interstate 57.  During full closures, a detour will be posted for motorists to follow.  This project is estimated to take about three weeks to complete.

The second project will aim to repair the structure carrying Bradley Avenue over I-57.  Officials say traffic will be restricted to one lane, and that the repairs are expected to be completed in four weeks, weather permitting.

IDOT officials are reminding motorists to reduce speeds in work zones and be alert for workers and machinery.
