Vietnam Traveling Wall Coming to Coles County

 CHARLESTON  You'll soon have another way to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

The AVTT Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall to be on display at the Coles County Fairgrounds July 2-5, 2015. 

The Traveling Wall is an 80 percent scale version of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. Across its 360-foot length the wall contains every single name etched on the original. It is eight-feet tall.

The American Veterans Traveling Tribute will arrive at the COLES COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS with a motorcycle escort on July 1 at 5:30PM.  The Wall will be on display, beginning at Noon, JULY 2.  It will be available for viewing 24/7 until the closing ceremony at 3PM on July 5th. 

An Opening Ceremony will be held at 5:30 PM, July 2nd, conducted by Mattoon VFW Post 4325.

July 3 – Noon  - Posting of Colors by the Charleston VFW Post 1592

            8PM – Retrieval of Colors and Taps

July 4 – 11AM – Posting of Colors by the Mattoon American Legion Post 88

            8PM – Retrieval of Colors and Taps

July 5 – 10AM - Posting of Colors by Boy Scout Troop

            2PM - The Black Tiger Honor Guard will conduct the Vietnam Veteran Remembrance Ceremony

            3PM – Closing - Taps
