Paxton police make arrests in theft incident

PAXTON - In an update to a story WAND brought you on Monday, the Paxton Police Department has announced that two arrests have been made in connection with a May theft incident.

Paxton police say officers were dispatched to the Casey's General Store in the 500 block of South Market Street during the evening hours of May 27 for a report of a theft.  Upon arriving, officers were told by an employee that money was taken from a safe located inside the store.

Authorities say the individuals who allegedly took the money were shown on surveillance video, and released still images from the video to the public in an effort to learn the identities of two individuals.  Paxton police say they later received a Crime Stoppers tip regarding the names and location of the two individuals.

Police say the individuals, identified at Charles Hemphill, 46, and Darlene Foley, 54, were arrested on June 1 at a home in the 1300 block of Sycamore Street in Rantoul.  We will provide more information as it becomes available.
