15th Season of Blues in Central Park Kicks Off June 18

DECATUR – Blues in Central Park returns to downtown Decatur on Thursday, June 18.

The featured band will be Howard & the White Boys. They played the original Blues in Central Park in June 2001. They are based in Chicago and are regular performers at Buddy Guy's Legends. The band's newest album is named Rosa's Lounge as a tribute to the Chicago club where the CD was recorded live.

Decatur Magazine has presented the summer series since 2001. Blues in Central Park utilizes the Central Park stage which is right down the street from several downtown Decatur restaurants and sidewalk cafes.

“The Central Park stage is the perfect venue for outdoor concerts,” Decatur Magazine publisher Beth Stringer explains.

Other food and beverages will be on sale at the park starting at 6 PM. Howard & the White Boys begin playing at 7 PM and continue until 10 PM.

Blues in Central Park will also present Nashville-based Markey Blue on July 16 and Florida-based Southern Hospitality on August 20.

“The popularity of blues music has brought thousands of fans to downtown Decatur over the years to enjoy a night of good music. It's been a great experience watching people of all ages and backgrounds come together out of pure enjoyment,” Stringer adds.
