Millikin Tech AdVentures Camp Teaches Entrepreneurship to Students
DECATUR – Millikin University and PPG Industries Inc. are partnering to host Tech AdVentures, a summer camp focusing on teaching entrepreneurship practices to current 8th – 12th grade students.
The camp will teach participants to find opportunities through an entrepreneurial perspective. Students will be crafting solutions using Raspberry Pi computers and toolkits. Tech AdVentures encourages campers to work together while responding to real-world problems.
“Millikin and PPG collaborated in the past to run iSMARTgirls, and this year we have decided to go a somewhat different direction,” said Julienne Shields, Millikin instructor of entrepreneurship.
Boys and girls will be participating in Tech AdVentures.
“The students will be using entrepreneurial frameworks and inquiry to imagine solutions, and then learn the skills to build solutions using Raspberry Pi computers,” Shields adds.
Prior computer programming experience is not required.
Tech AdVentures will cost $349, but a limited number of $100 need-based scholarships are available. The camp provides students with lunch, a t-shirt, a Raspberry Pi kit and prizes.
Deadline for registration is Friday, June 12.
