Meridian Hires Jay Driscoll to Lead Boys Basketball Program

MACON -- The Meridian boys basketball team has its next coach.

Thursday night, the Meridian school board approved Jay Driscoll as the next head coach, said athletic director Tony Millard.

"We are excited to welcome Coach Driscoll to Meridian as we feel his positive attitude, organization, and high-energy will continue the tradition of winning that is expected at Meridian," said Millard.

Driscoll is no stranger to basketball in Macon County.  He coached eight seasons at Mt. Zion High School, a stint that ended in 2012. His overall record with the Braves was 110-106.

He'll replace longtime central Illinois coach Jack Blickensderfer, who retired in May following 12 seasons in Macon.
