Ameren Illinois to donate air conditioning units

Posted:
DECATUR - Ameren Illinois officials say they are helping low-income families, veterans, and the elderly stay cool this summer by donating window air conditioners to the Decatur Macon County Opportunities Council.

Officials say 100 air conditioners will be donated to the DMCOC on June 8.  Residents who wish to receive one of these air conditioners must meet Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program guidelines.  Officials also say Ameren Illinois will donate a total of 500 air conditioners throughout the state this year to eight LIHEAP agencies.

Since starting its "Ameren Cares" program in 2013, Ameren Illinois has donated 1,200 units to LIHEAP agencies in the state.
