Springfield man arrested for aggravated DUI

SPRINGFIELD - Springfield police say one person has been arrested for allegedly striking three pedestrians and a parked vehicle in a Walmart parking lot Thursday evening.

Authorities say officers were called to Walmart, located at 1100 Lejune Drive, at about 6:10 p.m. for a report of an accident with injuries.  Upon arriving, officers say they found that three pedestrians and a parked vehicle had been struck by another vehicle.  According to the initial investigation, officers say a vehicle driven by a man had traveled through an aisle in the parking lot at high speed, striking the victims and the other vehicle, before stopping at the south end of the parking lot.

Springfield police say the driver of the vehicle, identified at Antoine Willis, 31, was arrested during the preliminary investigation.  All three individuals were taken to St. John's Hospital for treatment.  A 37-year-old male was treated for abrasions and released, while a five-year-old boy was treated for a broken arm.  The third victim, a 26-year-old female, is being treated for multiple injuries, including a serious head injury, and is in critical condition.

Willis currently faces a preliminary charge of aggravated DUI, and Springfield police say the charges could be amended depending on the status of the 26-year-old victim.

We will provide more details as they become available.
