Summit Of Hope

Springfield – The Summit of Hope is a one stop shop expo providing services for former prison inmates.  The services range from helping parolees and probationers find a job, get health screening, obtain housing information or simply get a haircut.

Governor Bruce Rauner and Congressman Rodney Davis, (R) Illinois, were among the state leaders observing the expo on the Illinois State Fairgrounds.  Congressman Davis believes the Summit of Hope ties in with the Governor Rauner's desire to reform the criminal justice system.

“Restructure our criminal justice system so that we don't see petty drug offenders go to jail longer than in some cases pedophiles and murderers,” Davis told WAND Capitol reporter Doug Wolfe.

Nearly 400 former inmates participated.  The next Summit of Hope is scheduled for June 24th at Malcom X College in Chicago.
