Springfield man formally charged with three counts of DUI

SPRINGFIELD - In an update to an article WAND brought to you last week, a Springfield man has been formally charged in connection with an vehicle-related incident that claimed the life of one person and injured two others.

According to our news partners at WTAX News Radio, Antione Willis, 31, faces three counts of driving under the influence and one count of leaving the scene of an accident.  Springfield police say Willis was arrested for allegedly striking three pedestrians and a parked vehicle at a Walmart parking lot on June 4.

Authorities say a 31-year-old man and 5-year-old boy were injured in the incident.  A third person, identified as 26-year-old Lindsey Sharp, was also severely injured in this incident.  Sangamon County Coroner Cinda Edwards says that Sharp died during the morning hours of June 5.

Springfield authorities continue to investigate.  We will provide more details as they become available.
