Champaign police investigate shooting incidents

CHAMPAIGN - Champaign police say two people were injured in one of two shooting incidents that happened on the city's northeast side Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Champaign police say officers were dispatched to the 900 block of North Fourth Street at about 8:25 p.m. for a report of shots fired.  Upon arriving at the scene, officers were informed that two individuals had arrived at separate hospitals with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Authorities say the preliminary investigation into this incident reveals that a pedestrian and an occupant in a vehicle were injured during an exchange of gunfire in the 900 block of North Fourth Street.  Champaign police say there was no apparent motive for the shooting, and that no suspects have been arrested.

Authorities say officers responded to another report of shots fired in the 1000 block of West Bradley Avenue at about 2:30 a.m. on June 9.  Upon arriving, Champaign police say they discovered that multiple shots were fired at a residential property.  No injuries were reported.
