Wyoming man arrested for alleged indecent solicitation of a child

OTTAWA - The Illinois State Police has announced that a Wyoming man has been arrested in northern Illinois for allegedly sending sexually explicit material to a 14-year-old teen.

Authorities say Illinois State Police Troopers, assisted by the Ottawa Police Department, FBI Child Exploitation Task Force, Gillette, Wyoming Police Department, and the LaSalle County State's Attorney's Office, arrested Shane Meyers, 28, in Ottawa on June 9.

Illinois State Police say Meyers allegedly sent inappropriate material through the internet to a 14-year-old teen, and that Meyers had allegedly traveled to Ottawa with the intention of meeting with the teen.  Authorities say the arrest was made when Meyers allegedly arrived to meet with the teen.

Meyers currently faces preliminary charges of indecent solicitation of a child and traveling to meet with a minor.  Meyer is being held at LaSalle County Jail pending a bond hearing.
