Sangamon County SWCD Hosts Lake Springfield Watershed Bus Tour

SPRINGFIELD – The Soil and Water Conservation District announces it will be holding a bus tour of the Lake Springfield Watershed.

This tour will highlight on-farm best management practices (BMPs) within the watershed. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from and speak with BMP experts.

The tour also includes breakfast and lunch provided by Nelson's Catering. Producers will receive a $10 Big R gift card for attending. They can also register to win a Nutrient Management Plan valued at $2,000 on a 40 acre field of their choice.

The tour begins and ends at the Sangamon County Farm Bureau which is located at 2631 Beechler Court in Springfield, Illinois. It takes places on Tuesday, July 21 starting at 7:30 AM and ending at 1 PM.

While there is no cost for the tour, those interested in participating must RSVP by July 10. RSVP notices should be directed to Shelly Seman at the Sangamon County Soil and Water Conservation District by email at michelle.seman@il.nacdnet.net or by phone at 217-241-6635, extension 3.
