Springfield police investigate armed robbery

SPRINGFIELD - Sangamon County authorities are seeking the public's assistance in their investigation into an armed robbery that took place on April 3.

Springfield police say the armed robbery happened just before 7:00 a.m. in the White Oaks West area.  Police say the victim reported he was taking a morning walk when he realized that he was being followed by someone.  The victim reported that this individual intentionally crossed paths with the victim, displayed a handgun, and demanded the victim's wallet and cell phone.  Police also say the suspect in this robbery had been in a stolen Dodge Stratus prior to this incident.
