Cleanup efforts in Danville continue after Sunday storms

Posted:
DANVILLE - Danville Mayor Scott Eisenhauer has announced that cleanup efforts related to the June 7 storms are scheduled to continue for the foreseeable future.

Eisenhauer says Danville Public Works crews are cleaning and assessing roadways and drainage facilities to determine the extent of damage done and to prioritize repairs.  Crews are also collecting water-damaged items and tree debris.  Eisenhauer is asking Danville residents to report any sinkholes, drainage failures, and other water damage-related problems to Danville Public Works at (217) 431-2288.

Additionally, Eisenhauer announced that he is preparing an application to request financial assistance from IEMA and FEMA agencies.  Eisenhauer says it's not clear whether this incident will qualify for assistance, but if it does, more information will be provided to residents regarding applying for assistance.  Officials are asking residents to document damage claims in the best detail possible.  Officials also say that photos and inventories of damaged items will likely be required in the event that IEMA and FEMA agencies consider the request for financial assistance.

Residents who have questions are asked to email mayor@cityofdanville.org or call (217) 431-2400.
