Springfield police investigate Friday shooting

SPRINGFIELD - The Springfield Police Department says one person suffered non-life-threatening injuries during a shooting incident that happened during the early morning hours of June 12.

Springfield police say officers received a report of a person who had been shot in the 1900 block of East South Grand Avenue at about 4:11 a.m.  Officers also say they found the shooting victim, a 21-year-old Springfield resident, at St. John's Hospital.  Police say the victim had suffered two gunshot wounds to his pelvis area.

According to the preliminary investigation, Springfield police say the victim was standing on a porch when a white-colored vehicle, possibly a Ford Focus, stopped out in front of the residence.  Police say two men got out of the vehicle, fired shots at the victim, got back into the vehicle, and left the scene.
