Kiss a Pig for the Kids

DECATUR- A special guest at a 5K made runners cross the finish line a little faster.

Daisy May a short, plump and furry piglet got all the smooches you could wish for all to donate to a great cause.

Richland Community Colleges Fitness center hosted a "fun run" that its proceeds went to a larger organization for St. Jude's children's hospital.

Fitness Director Scott Broyles knew how to get the attention of runners in the community for every person to cross the finish line he kissed Daisy May.

He said, "She's a wonderful little pig. She's cute and I'm so glad she could be apart of our event and we're glad to have her here at the fitness center and I dont know if I will get her on a treadmill or not."

Daisy's owner, Daphne Bollhorst,  told us why her presence at the race was necessary.

She said, "We wanted to help the kids. That's what St. Jude's is about helping the kids and if we can do that with her that's what we're gonna do."

The run generated donations that will be put towards a larger run for St. Jude's that last year raised more than 1,000,000.00 for children and families.
