Numerous Springfield Streets Close For Construction

SPRINGFIELD – The City of Springfield Office of Public Works announces several streets will be closed starting Monday, June 15.

The following streets will be closed to prepare for resurfacing: Monroe (Walnut – MacArthur), Red Bud (Laconwood – Satinwood), Buckeye (Red Bud – Hilltop), Turning Mill, Cog Mill, Clearview, Hunter Ridge, Saddle Mill, Windycrest, Wakefield and Jalna.

These roadways will be milled and resurfaced. Work on these streets should last two weeks, weather permitting.

Other roadways will be under construction to remove and replace curb and gutter, sidewalks and accessible ramps also starting June 15. These streets include: Pinto, Ranger, Lariat and Horseshoe. Construction on these streets will last up to two months, weather permitting.

Construction continues for the following streets: New Street (Lawrence – Edwards) and Park (Washington Park Entrance – Lawrence). Brick and old patches will be removed on these streets. The existing concrete base will be replaced and grade with a brick surface being reinstalled. This construction will last up to two months, weather permitting.

Motorists are encouraged to slow down and be aware of workers and equipment in areas of construction. Pedestrians should also use caution and seek alternative routes when necessary.

Various streets throughout Springfield will be crackfilled through the month of June. Residents are advised to watch for slow moving vehicles.
