Fan Drive Returns to Walmart North Parking Lot

Posted:
DECATUR – WAND and the Decatur-Macon County Senior Center are once again partnering to collect fans for low income seniors.

The fan drive will take place for one day on Thursday, June 18. WAND staff and representatives from the Senior Center will have a tent set up in the Walmart parking lot at 4224 North Prospect Street in Decatur. Fan donations will be accepted from 7 AM to 1 PM.

Each year the Senior Center collects fans for low income elderly in dire need of relief from the summer heat.

Those 55 and older are encouraged to stop by the Senior Center at 1430 North 22nd Street in Decatur to see if they qualify for a fan. Those applying for a fan must have not received a fan in the past two years and classified as low income (annual income of $17,505 for a household of one or $23,595 for 2 persons).

The limit is one fan per household. The Senior Center will not be providing replacement fans for fans given out last year.
