Posted: Updated:
SPRINGFIELD - Springfield Mayor Jim Langfelder has selected a former Springfield Urban League Executive Director to become the city's new Director of Economic Development.

On Monday, Langfelder announced that Karen Davis had been appointed to the position.  Officials say Davis will oversee the Office of Planning and Economic Development.

Davis has 20 years of experience in implementing various economic projects, such as affordable housing for low-income families, developing financial literacy educational programs, and creating public-private partnerships.  Mayor Langfelder added that Davis will lead Springfield "in a positive direction," and will help the city grow in all areas.
