DECATUR - The Decatur Police Department has announced that one man has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident that happened during the early morning hours of June 16.

Decatur police say officers were dispatched just after 12:00 a.m. to the 2500 block of North Illinois Circle, inside Woodland Estates Trailer Park, for a report of shots fired.  Upon arriving, officers spoke with residents, who reported hearing gunshots inside the trailer park.  Officers also say residents reported that the person who allegedly used the firearm had left in a white-colored Chevy Tahoe.

Decatur police say their initial investigation into this incident revealed that a man had driven to the trailer park in an effort to find a woman that he had previously been in a relationship with.  Police say upon finding the woman visiting with another man in the trailer park, the former boyfriend was told to leave the property, at which time he allegedly starting shooting a handgun.  Officers say there were no injuries reported in this incident.

Authorities say officers obtained a search warrant for the former boyfriend's home, located in the 1900 block of East Pythian Street.  Decatur police say members of the Emergency Response Team executed the search warrant at about 6:00 a.m., resulting in the former boyfriend being arrested, and a handgun that was allegedly used in this incident being recovered.

The former boyfriend has been identified as Phillip Fornwalt III, 28.  He faces preliminary charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and reckless discharge of a firearm.
