American Heart Association hosting 2015 Macon County Heart Walk

Posted: Updated:
DECATUR - The American Heart Association has announced that the 2015 Macon County Heart Walk will take place on October 24.

Officials say the Macon County Heart Walk is a family-friendly event that seeks to educate the community about heart disease and stroke risks, as well as to raise money for programs aimed at reducing those risks.  This event will be held at Fairview Park in Decatur, and will feature health screenings, fitness and nutrition demonstrations, and kids' activities.  Heart-healthy trick-or-treating will also be offered, so children will be encouraged to attend this event in costume.

Several companies will be participating in this year's event.  Central Illinois residents are encouraged to get involved with the Macon County Heart Walk by starting a team, whether it be a workplace-based team or in memory of a loved one who lost their battle with heart disease or stroke.
