Sangamon County K9 Units Compete in Police Dog Trials

SPRINGFIELD – The Sangamon County Sheriff's Office Canine teams took part in the annual United States Police Canine Association Police Dog 1 field trial the weekend of June 12 – 14.

Deputy Drew Dickason and K9 “Rajah” placed third in agility and first place in criminal apprehension. Their overall score earned them the title of “Top Dog” for 2015. Deputy Andrea Cline and K9 “Nika” were certified at this year's event.

Both dog teams accumulated enough points at this regional trial to qualify for the national field trial.

Twenty-eight dog teams from across Illinois and Missouri attended the event. This regional trial took place in Charleston, Illinois and was hosted by the Charleston Police Department.

The national field trial will take place in Springfield, Illinois on September 20 – 25. The Springfield Police Department Canine Unit is set to host the national trial.
