Decatur Park District announces Independence Day activities

DECATUR - Decatur Park District officials are inviting central Illinois residents to celebrate Independence Day with several activities at Nelson Park and Fairview Park Pool on July 4.

Officials say some of the activities offered on Independence Day will include the Staley Firecracker Road Run/Walk, the Richie Hammel Fore on the Floor Car Show, concerts, a Fourth of July Bash at the Fairview Park Pool, and a fireworks display.  We have included a list of events being held below:

Nelson Park:

7:30 a.m. - Staley Firecracker Road Run/Walk
10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. - Richie Hammel Fore on the Floor Car Show
6:00 p.m. - Scott Marek Concert
7:30 p.m. - Drew Baldridge Concert
Dusk - Fireworks Display

Fairview Park Pool:

10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. - Fourth of July Bash

Decatur Park District officials also say the Park District Administrative Office and DISC will be close on July 4.  All Park District golf course will be open during regular hours, and Scovill Zoo and Overlook Adventure Mini Golf will be open from 9:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., respectively.
