SPRINGFIELD – The Lincoln Library in Springfield will be offering free e-Reader and computer classes in July.
Classes are open to all ages. Children under the age of 12 are required to have an adult chaperone for the class.
These classes will be held in the library's second floor training room. The library is located at 326 South 7th Street in Springfield.
Preregistration is required to attend. The Lincoln Library holds these classes each month, and the July schedule is printed below. More class descriptions and registration can be found by following the link here to the Calendar of Events.

Wednesday, July 1 -- 6-7:30 p.m. — Computer Basics w/ Windows 7 Learn about the keyboard, mouse, monitor, printer, opening and closing programs, menus, toolbars, and saving files on a computer. Level 1.
Tuesday, July 7 -- 2-3:30 p.m.—Internet Basics Choose an internet browser. Discover the available search engines. Attendees should be experienced computer users. Level 2.
Thursday, July 9 -- 2-3:30 p.m. — Microsoft Word Basics Learn to write, edit and save word processing documents and use templates and clipart to make flyers and announcements. Must have basic computer knowledge. Uses Word 2010. Level 2.
Tuesday, July 21 -- 2-3:30pm— Microsoft PowerPoint Basics Learn to use design templates to add text, graphics, and animation to slides. Must have experience with the mouse, Windows, and word processing. Uses PowerPoint 2010. Level 3.
Thursday, July 23 -- 2-3:30 p.m. — eReader Devices with the Library Use your eReader (iPad, Kindle, Nook, etc.) to access eBooks available from Lincoln Library through Library on the Go, eRead Illinois and OneClickdigital. Please bring your eReader Device and any passwords you will need for app stores (iTunes Store, Google Play, etc.). Level 2.
Saturday, July 25 -- 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.— Checkout a Library Techie Get free help uploading a resume, downloading a file, creating an email account, or with almost anything else technology related, during this open-questions session. Must have computer experience. Level 2.
Saturday, July 25 -- 2-3:30 p.m. — Exploring your Family Tree An introduction to the genealogy resources offered and compiled by Lincoln Library. Must have computer experience. Level 2.
Tuesday, July 28 -- 2-3:30 p.m.—Email Basics Enhance your email skill, with attachments, address books, and more. Attendees should have a basic knowledge of Windows, the Internet and be able to use a mouse. Level 1.
Wednesday, July 29 -- 6-7:30 p.m. —Microsoft Excel Basics Learn to keep track of budgets or finances, including entering, editing, sorting & moving text; creating & calculating simple formulas. Must have basic computer knowledge. Uses Excel 2010. Level 2.
