DECATUR – Decatur Police responded to a report of a possible stabbing victim in the roadway at 3300 East Fulton Avenue on Tuesday, June 23.
Officers located a 58-year-old male victim upon arrival. The victim was transported to St. Mary's Hospital by ambulance. He suffered multiple apparent knife stab wounds. Medical staff advised some of the wounds were life threatening and took the victim into surgery.
Witnesses directed authorities to a residence in the 1700 block of South 33rd Street in Decatur. Police say their investigation revealed the victim had been at the residence and was acquainted with the male 49-year-old resident. The suspect stabbed the victim multiple times in the driveway after an argument ensued. This lead to the victim fleeing and collapsing in the roadway where police later located him.
Police took the subject into custody at his home. The subject later became combative during a search of the house and battered two Decatur Police officers. The officers did not require medical treatment at this time.
The subject was arrested for attempted murder and aggravated battery to police. He is held in the Macon County Jail at this time.
