Traffic Delays Expected on South Side Drive for Months

Posted: Updated:
DECATUR – The Decatur Police Department, the Macon County Sheriff's Office, along with Enbridge, are advising motorists to be aware of traffic delays in the 600 block of South Side Drive for the next several months.

Lt. Jonathan Butts of the Macon County Sheriff's Office states, “A large number of construction vehicles will be entering onto South Side Drive from the old Zexel facility on Monday mornings from 7 AM to approximately 7:30 AM.

Deputies and officers will be at this location for traffic control to ensure that traffic is not delayed for extended amounts of time and to make motorists aware of the traffic congestion.”

Drivers should be alert and mindful of stop and go traffic. Signs will be posted at these locations in the near future. It is recommended motorists who regularly drive this area on Monday mornings find alternate routes.

Decatur Deputy Police Chief James Getz added, “As always the safety of the motorist is paramount with the Decatur Police Department. We ask that you be especially cognizant of the traffic issues on Monday mornings in the old Zexel area on South Side Drive.”
