Decatur police arrest another man in connection with Father's Day weekend shootings

DECATUR - The Decatur Police Department has announced that it has made another arrest in connection with the string of shootings that took place this Father's Day weekend.

Decatur police say they arrested Tyyuan Anderson, 18, after a short foot chase Wednesday night.  Authorities say Anderson was allegedly in possession of 6.7 grams of marijuana, 1.4 grams of cocaine, and a loaded .40 caliber Glock handgun at the time of his arrest.  

Police say Anderson was taken to the Macon County Jail on preliminary charges or armed violence, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, and resisting a police officer.  Decatur police also say Anderson is currently on probation in Macon County for robbery.

Decatur Police Chief Brad Sweeney says the department continues to investigate this recent string of shootings, and that more arrests are expected.  We will provide more details as they become available.
