Illinois State Police Investigate Traffic Crash Near Carlinville

 CARLINVILLE – Illinois State Police District 18 Officers report they are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that took place the evening of Saturday, June 27 at 6:41 PM.

Officers say 50-year-old Lloyd McCloghan of Glenarm, Illinois was riding on Shipman Road, 1/10 mile north of Robinson Lane, south of Carlinville in Macoupin County when he lost control of his motorcycle. McCloghan traveled off the right side of the roadway and was thrown from his 2005 Harley Davidson Motorcycle. He landed near the edge of the roadway.

Authorities report McCloghan was taken to the Carlinville Area Hospital and pronounced deceased there. They noted the driver was not wearing a helmet. Illinois State Police believe alcohol may be a factor in the crash.
