Danville Public Library Announces July Events

DANVILLE – The Danville Public Library announces it will hold several events in the second week of July for various interests and age groups.

Danville Public Library's Outreach Department will be presenting its free “Monday Matinee Classic” on Monday, July 6. This week's film features a 1939 film about aging history teacher Charles Edward Chipping as he reflects on his life of teaching and romance. Refreshments start at 1:30 PM, and the film begins at 2 PM in the first floor Meeting Room. Public performance rights for these movies are made possible by a grant from the Danville Library Foundation.

The library will host the Downtown Danville Farmers' Market on July 8 and 11. Each event takes place from 8 AM to 1 PM in the library's west lawn.

There will be free activities for children on Wednesday, July 8. Children can participate in the Children's Garden Club from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, Young Pup Yoga from 10:30 AM to 11 AM and Story Hour from 11 AM to 11:30 AM.

Attendees can participate in other library activities on Friday, July 11. Events include: “Read to the Rhythm” with Summer Reading Musical Guest Mire Bhavsar accompanied by Indian music from 9 AM to 1 PM and a Lip Sync Battle on the Hegeler Stage from 10 AM to 11 AM.

Outreach Assistant Reno Torres will conduct the Battle for age groups 3rd – 5th grade, 6th – 8th grade, high school and adult. Each contestant must lip sync a song for at least 3 minutes. Songs can be from any area, but they must be in good taste. Contestants must provide their own audio.
