Consolidation of Regional Offices of Education goes into effect

Posted: Updated:

SPRINGFIELD - The Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents of Schools has announced that 44 Regional Offices of Education have been consolidated into 35 offices statewide.

IARSS officials say the consolidation is part of legislation passed by Illinois lawmakers in 2012.  The new positions created by the consolidation were up for election in November 2014, with the newly-elected officials starting on July 1.

Officials also say the consolidation process included combining office locations and staff, coordinating programs with school districts, and moving around the management of some educational programs.  For more information about the consolidation, visit
