Champaign County authorities investigate armed robbery

URBANA - Champaign County authorities are seeking the public's help in identifying a suspect in an armed robbery that took place in Urbana on June 22.

The Champaign County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to a report of an armed robbery at the 4 Stop Food & Liquor store in the 2100 block of East University Avenue at about 9:52 p.m.  Upon arriving, an employee reported to deputies that an unknown male entered the store, displayed a gun, and demanded money.  After being given an undetermined amount of cash, the male left the store, heading west.

Champaign County authorities say surveillance video shows the individual who allegedly committed the armed robbery.  We have included a still image from the video in this article.  Deputies say the suspect is described as a black male in his early-to-mid-twenties, standing 5'7", and weighing between 150 and 160 pounds.  The suspect was wearing a black-colored mask and black-colored clothing.
