IDoA Seeks Nominations for Senior Hall of Fame

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Aging (IDoA) is seeking nominations for the 2015 Illinois Senior Hall of Fame awards.

The annual award recognizes residents of Illinois, ages 65 and older, who excel in the categories of Community Service, Education, Performance / Graphic Design and Labor Force. 95 people have been inducted since the awards’ start in 1994. Eligibility is based on the nominee’s past or current accomplishments in one of the award categories.

Candidates must be 65 or older and a current resident of Illinois. Interested parties are also able to nominate a former citizen who has lived in Illinois most of his or her life. Posthumous nominees will also be considered.

The year’s winners will be announced at a ceremony in the fall. The nomination deadline is August 25.

Nomination forms are available at local Area Agencies of Aging, on the department website by following the link here or by calling the Department’s Senior HelpLine at 800-252-8966. Forms can be faxed to 217-785-4477 or mailed to the IDoA Division of Community Relations and Outreach located at One Natural Resources Way #100 in Springfield, Illinois 62702-1271.
