Urbana Free Library Hosts Legopalooza

URBANA – The Urbana Free Library will host lego builder and enthusiasts of all ages at its Legopalooza building event on Saturday, August 22.

Registration begins Wednesday, July 15, and the last day for registration will be Saturday, August 15. Interested parties can register by going to the library’s e-calendar here and clicking on August 22. There will be three age categories to pick from: children (0 – 12 years), teens (13 – 19 years) and adults (20+ years).

Participants can use LEGOs, DUPLOs or other LEGO compatible plastic bricks. Entries will be judged on originality. Projects taken from other sources will not be accepted. The base of a project can be no bigger than 24 by 24 inches. Bases can be wood, cardboard or a LEGO flat base and decorated to suit the project. The entire project must be no taller than four feet.

Only one entry per team or individual will be accepted.

Attendees should bring their project to the Urbana Free Library’s Lewis Auditorium on Friday, August 21 from 4 to 6 PM or Saturday, August 22 from 9 to 11 AM. Judging will take place from 11 AM to 1 PM on August 22. Voting for favorite projects will occur from 11 AM to 3 PM for each age category. Awards will be announced at 3 PM.
