Brownie Troop Selling Lemonade to Benefit Jared Box Project
MT. ZION – The Girl Scouts of Central Illinois Brownie Troop #3251 announces they will be selling lemonade Thursday, July 16 and Saturday, July 18 to benefit the Jared Box Project.
This project aims to provide toys to children in hospitals. A Jared Box is a plastic storage box filled with small gifts, toys, games and other activities catered to a specific age and gender. These boxes are given to young patients in emergency rooms, patient rooms, surgical centers and clinics. Boxes are also delivered to children undergoing chemotherapy and other medical treatments.
Jared Boxes are used in an effort to lift the spirits of children going through difficult times. The organization says over 200,000 Jared Boxes have been delivered across the United States.
Brownie Troop #3251 will be hosting lemonade stands on two separate days to raise money to put together Jared Boxes. They will be at the Mt. Zion Farmers Market at Heroic Age Studios on Henderson Street from 3:30 – 6:30 PM on July 16. The troop will also be selling at the Mt. Zion Rural King located at 1920 Mount Zion Road in Decatur from 10 AM to 2 PM.
