Springfield Man Arrested for Toilet Paper Theft

SPRINGFIELD – Springfield Police say they have made an arrest in the theft of a large amount of toilet paper from the St. Martin De Porres Center. The toilet paper was reported stolen on Tuesday, June 30 from the center located in the 1700 block of South Grand East.

Authorities report they arrested 50-year-old Roderick F. Chester at an address on Regency Court in Springfield on Thursday, July 2. Chester faces charges of burglary and theft. Police believe numerous individuals were involved in the toilet paper theft. Officers say they were able to make the arrest due to an anonymous tip.

The 10,000 rolls of toilet paper were stolen from a central Illinois food pantry.
