Marshall Celebrates Its 180th Birthday

MARSHALL – The City of Marshall will be celebrating its 180th birthday with bike giveaways, swimming and other activities.

Marshall will hold “Night Out on the National Road” on Friday, August 7 from 5 PM to midnight. Residents are invited to Downtown Marshall to see live music and learn about safety procedures and equipment.

Marshall Main Street and Wal-Mart will give away 4 bikes with safety equipment. The Marshall Fire Department, Marshall Ambulance, Army utility vehicles, the Arch Medi helicopter and the City of Marshall utility vehicles will all be on display to touch and experience. Attendees can also participate in green screen photos, bounce houses and other family-friendly activities. The Marshall FFA will also be present with a petting zoo.

Several area businesses will also be present. All displays will be open until 9 PM. The City of Marshall band is set to play a concert at 8 PM. Marshall Pool will be open starting at 9 PM and ending at midnight.

1000 hot dogs, chips and Pepsi soft drinks are available for free on a first-come, first-served basis. This event is free and open to the public.
