Decatur police make arrest in narcotics investigation

DECATUR - The Decatur Police Department has announced that one arrest has been made in connection with an investigation into the illegal distribution of narcotics in the city.

Decatur police say the Street Crimes Unit, made up of Decatur police officers and detectives from the Macon County Sheriff's Office, executed a search warrant in the Southern Hills residential area Wednesday morning.  During the search, Decatur police say officers seized approximately 22 grams of crack cocaine, $4,900 in cash, four handguns, and assorted firearm ammunition.

Authorities say officers arrested the resident, identified at Jaylen Soules, 20 and transported him to the Macon County Jail.  Soules faces preliminary charges of armed violence, and manufacture/delivery of cocaine.

This incident is still under investigation by the Decatur Police Department.  We will provide updates as they become available.
