Illinois Lawmakers Consider Temporary Solutions to Stabilize Workers

Posted: Updated:

SPRINGFIELD - A temporary fix to a massive problem. Illinois is still without a full balanced budget but temporary solutions could help stabilize workers.

Senate Bill 2040 was agreed on by the House of Representatives Executive Committee Wednesday that will allocate the state around $2.3 Billion dollars and keep certain vital services in place.

Another push by Rep. Bill Mitchell (R) is to keep state employees receiving payment as earned with a continuing resolution.

Mitchell said, "Some of the house republicans we have what we call a continuing resolution which would allow state workers to get paid in absence of a final budget agreement."

The House will reconvene Thursday to pass or deny both the resolution and temporary budget.
