SPRINGFIELD – William A. Robinson will be the highlighted speaker at the Vietnam Veterans of America’s 17th national convention in Springfield later this month.
Robinson was a prisoner of war for more than seven years. He was shot down while serving as a crew chief on a U.S. Air Force helicopter in 1965 in North Vietnam.
Robinson was taken to what was known as the “Hanoi Hilton Prison” by the North Vietnamese Army. He was beaten, starved, and witnessed the death of prisoners.
Robinson will give the keynote address to close out opening ceremonies. More than 800 delegates from across the country are expected to attend.
