Springfield Officers Serve Free Lunch for Special Olympics Donations

SPRINGFIELD – The Springfield Police Department announces officers will be serving a “free” lunch at Texas Roadhouse on Friday, July 31 to benefit the Illinois Special Olympics.

This is the 5th annual Texas Roadhouse Benefit Lunch. Officers will work with Texas Roadhouse staff to serve lunch to dine-in and to-go customers on July 31 from 11 AM to 2 PM at the Roadhouse location on 2540 West Iles Avenue in Springfield. There will be a set menu including: a pulled pork sandwich, corn, fresh baked bread with honey cinnamon butter and a non-alcoholic beverage.

Customers are encouraged to leave a donation or “tip” for their meal. 100% of the donations benefit Special Olympics Illinois. Businesses can pre-order large orders by calling 217-698-5700. Pre-orders will be available for pick-up in the drive-thru.

The Springfield Police Department’s Emergency Response Team will also have their Rescue Vehicle (Bearcat) on display for the event.

Other participating Texas Roadhouse locations can be found in the following cities: Bradley, Champaign, Countryside, Crystal Lake, Decatur, Dekalb, Edwardsville, East Peoria, Joliet, Naperville, Quincy, Rockford, Shiloh (O’Fallon), Springfield and Tinley Park.
