TUSCOLA - Douglas County officials and state lawmakers will gather in Tuscola on July 17 to honor to a Douglas County Deputy who was fatally injured in the line of duty.

Officials say Route 45, between Pesotum and Tuscola, will be renamed the "Tommy K. Martin Highway" during a conference at the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.  Among the individuals who will be in attendance for this announcement will be State Senator Chapin Rose and State Representative Adam Brown, as well as friends and family of Tommy Martin.

A sign depicting the road's new name will also be unveiled.  Douglas County Chief Deputy Tommy Martin died in 2007 as a result of injuries suffered while on duty.
