Posted: Updated:

CHAMPAIGN – Our news partners at The News-Gazette report the mother of Champaign police officer Jerad Gale will pay the $65,000 in cash needed to release him from the Piatt County Jail.

Nicole Lafond of the News-Gazette says the bond is being split between Piatt and Champaign counties. $25,000 will go to Piatt County, while $40,000 will go to Champaign County. Gale will go back to Champaign County once the bond is paid. Judge Tom Difanis has ordered he wear a GPS bracelet that will prevent him from coming within 500 feet of the women’s homes once he is released.

Gale’s bond was recently raised to $400,000 for charges of sexual assault against three former girlfriends.
